Back to basics: fresh, organic food, yoga, swimming, stand up paddle, good conversations with people from all over the world, laughter, dancing, relaxing in a hammock. Letting the Cuban culture and lifestyle sink in.
Join other like-minded souls from around the world for a week or organic, healthy foods, long quiet beaches, and invigorating yoga practice only minutes away from what has been named one of the 7 New Wonders of the World, Havana, Cuba. This is not your typical tourist resort; our villas are located in an area where many locals vacation and the Mhai Yoga team are like a warm, welcoming family.
Each day begins with an optional sunrise meditation on the beach (worth waking up early for!), followed by an hour and a half of a moving meditation and yoga class. The vinyasa flow style yoga taught by Kathy Parsons, is a creative sequence of hatha poses designed to encourage students to connect their body, mind, and spirit through strengthening, lengthening and opening. The classes are set to inspiring music and incorporate a special savassana massage. The classes are suitable for all levels of yogi’s.
KP’s aim is to have every student finish class feeling lighter and more grounded than they were when they started (and smiling and laughter is encouraged!).
The second yoga class (usually in the late afternoon or evening) will be more restorative in nature or will be an alignment-focused workshop. These will be led by one of the most experienced, talented Iyengar trained teachers in the world, Eduardo Pimentel! He has been called the Grandfather of Yoga in Cuba, and he’s also a warm and kind person with an amazing sense of humour.
I had the pleasure of attending yoga retreat in Cuba lead by Kathy Parsons which far exceeded my expectations. Kathy has a very balanced and well rounded approach to yoga which can benefit anyone regardless of experience or fitness level. Her humour and relaxed approach creates a very comfortable atmosphere while her experience and knowledge of yoga helps each of her students grow and improve. Kathy demonstrated a great deal of patience, caring and love for yoga and a week at her retreat has inspired me to engage in my practice more consistently. My experience with Kathy has been my best yoga experience to date. I highly recommend a retreat with her.” Peter, Germany, 2016
